Can These Bones Live?

In the few weeks after losing my husband, I remembered that while we were in Germany, he asked me to read to him from Ezekiel 37, The Valley of Dry Bones. I didn’t realize that he was prophesying over me and many others at the time.

After I lost him, someone so very close to me, I felt like my bones had dried up, that my reason for living was over ,  I cried the tears and yet at unexplained moments they still came, especially at most inconvenient times like the middle of the grocery store. What could possibility be left for me to do or be. My identity was lost, my reason for being was gone. And yet, all around me, many that have lived through such a loss seemed to go on, maybe at a different pace, but they seemed to be existing.

I reached a time, where all the comfortable and familiar had been taken away and I found myself in a lonely dry place. Fear, confusion, stagnation, became familiar friends and hope…where had hope gone? Does it ever get any better? I was set down in the midst of a valley and it was full of day bones. MINE! Many of you have been to that same place.

Ezekiel 37:1-3. These bones can be our former dreams, loss of loved ones, ambitions, even ministry calls that have gone unanswered. Dead bones can be dead relationships, dead goals, dead possessions, bad health, betrayals, and lost faith and hope.

Verses 4-8 says there was no breath in them,

Verses 9&10-God is raising up a GREAT ARMY of believers, mature women of God, to fulfill the call that He placed on us years ago, or a new vision for this time. He is breathing life into us, to boldly step forth in our callings.

Verses 11& 12 we must be aware of an apathetic spirit that can lull us to sleep and cause an abortion of our dreams. Can these bones live? God says, give my women this message, I will open your graves and cause you to rise again from your grave clothes and ashes, I will breath the breath of life into your being.

Can these bones live? Of course they can, they can spring forth, with more vigor and strength than we can imagine. With our breath being the very breath of God, we are more than conquerors through Christ, who loves us and gave himself for us. Romans 8:37-39.

One of the ministry tools that God has given us, is meeting with Naomi Society friends. We are able to help and encourage one another, to grow in faith, trust, and above all hope. That wherever we are in our walk with the Lord, whether a new believer or a seasoned one, He is faithful to perform His Word in each of us, as if we were the only believer on earth. This closeness and personal attention to our needs is hard to understand with our finite minds, but our God is able to bring us along, at our rate of growth, into the fullness He has desired for us.

And, we have fun along the way, also.
